"B" Groups
The
Bobbettes
 The
first R & B female groups. The Bobbettes released their
first hit recording, "Mr. Lee" one month before the
Chantels released "He's Gone". The Bobbettes formed in
Harlem, New York City, New York in 1955.The group consisting of
Emma Pought, Jannie Pought, Laura Webb, Helen Gathers and
Reather Dixon. The girls ages raged from 11 t0 13 years at the
time of their formation. Their last chart success was in 1961.
The group continued to perform in the late 1980's.
